Wonderful Walks for Lockdown 2021

 Wonderful walks for Lockdown 2021

Walking in this area of East Yorkshire truly is wonderful! Like everyone else in the country, here at Heritage Escapes we’ve been out walking to get some daily exercise and we’ve so enjoyed what our area has to offer.  We are really lucky to have the spectacular Heritage Coast on our doorstep, offering us a wealth of choice; clifftop walks, sandy beaches, rocky coves , rockpools and caves to explore.  Flamborough Head has so many brilliant spots -Thornwick Bay, Danes Dyke, South and North Landings-all so different. Our nearest walk is just down the road to Sewerby Park

From Sewerby its the easiest thing to stroll along the wide clifftop path into Bridlington, down to the busy harbour and then return along the beach  to the rockpools beneath Sewerby steps before finishing with an energetic climb to the top. Follow that by an exploration of Sewerby Park’s lovely walled garden and woodland paths and you will have experienced a varied and refreshing  hour or two in the fresh air.

Added to this, we’re able to stay  close to home and enjoy the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds countryside too. Only a mile or two away are villages like Rudston and Boynton, which both offer family friendly walks of less than 5 miles and include interesting features along the way. Rudston Monolith in the churchyard  is East Yorkshire’s answer to Stonehenge and Carnaby Temple is an unexpected find in the middle of a field!

Its true to say that although all these walks were well known to us before Lockdown, we’ve enjoyed and appreciated them more than ever we did before.  What’s more, we intend to keep getting out and about locally whilst we have the time to fully enjoy what is on our doorstep.
