Events at the Yorkshire Coast.
Events in May, June and July at the Yorkshire Coast
Outdoor events will be springing up all along the East Yorkshire coast over the coming weeks, with plenty of additional attractions just a few miles inland.
Seabird colonies at Flamborough and Bempton
The months of May, June and July at the Yorkshire Coast offer so many events and attractions to entertain you throughout the next few weeks.
At this time of the year, when all the seabirds are returning to nest and raise their young, one of the most popular attractions is RSPB Bempton just up the road from our cottages at Heritage Escapes It really is the most impressive sight to watch the thousands of birds wheeling, calling, diving and feeding, just beneath your feet!
The Kite Festival at Sewerby Cliffs over the weekend 18th/19th May is always a big attraction and is free to all comers. I’m sorry , I didn’t post this on time for you to visit this year, but it is an annual event and well worth keeping in mind if you like to holiday here in May.
Burton Agnes has a full programme of event throughout the year- The very popular 3 day Jazz Festival 12,13,14 July A lovely Gardeners Fair 8th/ 9th June and if you’re looking for something later in the year Autumn Fair 5th/6th October
Meanwhile, just down the road at Sewerby Hall visitors can enjoy the winners and runners up of the National Wildlife Photograher of the Year Competition, running from May 4th throughout the summer. Also at Sewerby this summer there are evening showings of open air cinema, which are great fun.
We also like the open air theatre in Scarborough and have enjoyed some brilliant evenings there watching some big name groups and stars. This year’s featured artists include Status Quo, Simple Minds, Deacon Blue, Tom Jones and Gregory Porter.
If music is your thing, the Bridlington Spa is showing the Magic of the Bee Gees 25th May and, later in the year, in September UB40 will be performing live on Friday 31st. The Simon and Garfunkle Story is also on the schedule.
Lastly, the Priory Church in Bridlington Old Town is a wonderful , historic building and merits a half day visit. It also has a busy events programme of music, both classical and modern.
I’ll post another blog of other up-coming events soon, but that probably enough for now.
Good weather has arrived at last and the Wolds countryside is looking truly beautiful. The wild flowers and the blossom are a joy.
