Festival fun on the Yorkshire Coast

The Yorkshire Coast has plenty of fun, festivals and activities on offer for visitors this May. They are bound to be a roaring success – helped along by the brilliant, sunny weather across the country. Blue, cloudless skies and endless sunshine are the winning combination, wished for by everyone when they are on holiday away from home.

Local voluntary organisations plus Visit East Yorkshire, the RSPB and the RNLI Bridlington and Flamborough RNLI  have worked alongside each other to produce a programme of events that guarantees appeal for all age groups and interests. Kite Festival Sewerby

This weekend  some of the world’s largest inflatable kites will be flying high above the cliff tops in Sewerby. Attractions include professional kite-flying demonstrations and the possibility of trying your hand at kite-flying if you’ve never had a go before.  There is additional entertainment and  lots to see and do.

Just up the road, a short stroll from the cliff top, Sewerby Hall  is hosting the competition winners of the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year.  The chosen images are always quite wonderful.

Fun and fund-raising in Flamborough

Everyone who visits Flamborough gets to learn about  it’s proud association with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.  During the year there are many fund-raising events and activities . Throughout May this year, a wooden boat trail, plus trail directions and clues, has been set up for visitors to the village.  This is a free activity. Also, not to be missed, are the Coffee and Cake weekends at the Flamborough Lifeboat Station, North Landing. May 24th/25th

Yorkshire Belle Seabird trips around Flamborough Head

Bridlington Yorkshire Belle.  Bird watching trips in association with RSPB.  The puffins and gannets are back in profusion and are nesting and raising their chicks right now.  The best way to see them in close up is to sail under the cliffs at Flamborough on the Yorkshire Belle

Events in Bridlington

Bridlington’s monthly Sunday food market has become a really popular event, with a wide range of exciting street food in addition to the delicious offerings from our local producers .  Over the next Bank Holiday weekend,  King Street, Bridlington will have a food market on both Sunday 25th and Monday 26th

There are plenty more events and festivals planned for Bridlington in the summer months;

Steampunk Weekend, Race the Waves, Northern Soul Weekender, Sailing Coble Festival, Old Town Association Secret Gardens and so much more. Check out what’s in the pipeline – the Tourist Information Office is now based at Bridlington Spa

Yorkshire’s spectacular East Coast with its towering chalk cliffs and endless stretches of sandy beaches makes it a truly special place for a holiday break. We’re so lucky to live in such close proximity to the beautiful walking and cycling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds.
