Summer treats on the East Yorkshire Coast
Get ready for the summer on the East Yorkshire Coast
The summer season has arrived, and here on our part of the spectacular East Yorkshire Coast, there is a huge range of highlights and activities for all age groups. Our visitors often comment there is so much to see and do, it is impossible to fit everything into a week – never mind a short break!
Bridlingon Highlights this summer
Of course, when you think of summer at the Yorkshire coast you picture miles of sandy beaches, strolling along the prom in the sunshine, relaxing on the sands and, if you’re adventurous, swimming in the sea. Children will play for hours, building sandcastles, paddling in the shallow waters, collecting interesting pebbles and eating copious amounts of ice cream. You’ll probably finish many a day with an unmissable fish and chip supper.
If you fancy branching out from the beach, here are a few possibilities.
What else is there to do in Bridlington this summer?
- June 22-29th Bridlington Old Town Festival . Bridlington Old Town comes alive when it hosts festivals, as it is the perfect setting along the High Street, the Market Place and High Green with plenty of room for stalls, pedestrians and music . June 23rd is Vintage Festival Day and this is becoming ever more popular, as fashions from the 40’s 50’s, 60’s have become both collectable and very desirable.
- July 18th Rock the Priory. Bridlington Priory has a full programme of music . This concert is a recent innovation and has received excellent support from residents and visitors alike.
- Why not take the opportunity to visit the galleries, restaurants, cafes, pubs The Board Inn and tea rooms, strung along the Old Town . You may have seen Andi Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts when she recently visited Bridlington and featured the Nut and Nettle , a delightful eatery within the #Queens Hotel, offering light vegan lunches, cakes and drinks. There is a real mix of food establishments within the Old Town, so you’ll have plenty of choice if you stop to eat there.
- If you are interested in antiques and collectables then #The Georgian Tea Rooms will not only nourish you with tea and cakes, but stimulate your desire to purchase an unusual ‘something’ to give to your neighbours to thank them for looking after your plants/cats/dogs whilst you were away.
- Parking is free in the old town and it is the nearest set of shops to our cottages here at Heritage Escapes There is both a good local butcher and baker, plus a green grocer, so you really can ‘shop local’ and support out local traders.
