The Bempton Cliffs Albatross

View the amazing albatross at Bempton Cliffs

An albatross at Bempton Cliffs- surely not? Well yes, and it looks like he has decided to make his home here in East Yorkshire.

Albatross at Bempton Cliffs

The amazing albatross now being seen regularly at Bempton cliffs

An albatross at Bempton Cliffs! Visitors have been flocking to our coast to catch sight of the albatross that decided to settle, alongside the gannets and the puffins, at Bempton Cliffs, just a mile of so from our luxury holiday cottages here at Heritage Escapes, close to the stunning East Yorkshire Coast.

The handsome bird should inhabit the Southern Hemisphere, but somehow this albatross lost his sense of direction and last year he made his first appearance around Flamborough Head.  He has created quite a stir and visitors reported regular sightings in the summer of 2021, which have  continued to  increase this year . It appears he is very settled in the company of the myriad of seabirds that nest on and above the precipitous chalk cliffs.

Our luxury holiday cottages

Below we feature images of The Owl House. This lovely 5 Star Gold rated cottage sleeps four in two en-suite bedrooms. It is  named after the barn owls that nest within its eaves every year. The parents and their chicks can be viewed from the comfort of each of the 5  cottages at High Barn, via a 24 hour webcam streamed to the living room of each cottage.

Only a mile or so from the RSPB Bempton Reserve, Heritage Escapes offers  twelve superb cottages on two sites – High Barn and Field House Farm Cottages
