Our holiday season is about to start.
We always look forward to welcoming our holiday visitors and are excited to see both familiar and new faces. It’s February, and like the animals in the fields and woodland that surrounds us, we’re coming out of hibernation! From the beginning of the year we’ve been busy spring cleaning, making alterations and planning for the 2023 season.
In the Area
- Bridlington Harbour on sunny January afternoon
- Bridlington Spa entrance

There’s plenty going on in and around the coast. All the cafes and restaurants are open, Brid Spa has a full programme of entertainments and the beaches look sparkling in the sunshine. All the family can enjoy the pleasures of the coast; the rock pools and cliffs at Flamborough, the benefits of spending time together in the fresh sea air, fish and chips by the harbour. Just down the lane at at Sewerby Hall, the park is a great place for a stroll and has free entry until late March. Another lovely venue in the area, just south of Bridlington, is Burton Agnes Hall

Surrounded by nature
Here on the farm we’re hoping we can say goodbye to winter. Our fields are being ploughed, ready for the sowing of Spring crops and we all have plenty of outdoor work to be done. Just recently, as the days begin to lengthen and the daytime temperatures start to rise, the birds have started to sing again and seek out their nesting sites. Only this morning two long tailed tits (not usually spotted in our garden) were on the bird feeder outside out kitchen window. Scores of delicate snowdrops brighten up our drive and woodland areas. Our Barn Owls at High Barn seem to be cosy in their home and the RSPB Bempton have very kindly given us additional nesting boxes for both owls and hawks.

Our visitors love being able to get so close to the natural world when they stay in our cottages at the coast. We’ll pretty much guarantee you’ll catch site of hare, rabbits, squirrels, deer and a whole host of farmland and woodland birds.
Treat yourself, escape to this part of Yorkshire and enjoy the fresh air, the open spaces and the freedom of the coast and the countryside.
